Media Policies

BHS Library Policies

A maximum of five books may be checked out of the library for a three week period.  A book may be renewed unless a "hold" is placed on the book.  Some reference materials may be checked out on an overnight basis.

Students may return books anytime before school, during the school day and after school. Students must have their agenda signed or have a note to come to the media center during the school day.  Students must sign in during the day.  Students do not need a note before or after school.

Overdues :

There is a $ .05 daily fine for overdue books.  Students with overdue books or fines may not check out additional books.   Students are expected to pay for lost or stolen books and lost or stolen calculators.

Technology Services:

Our library uses the electronic catalog, Follett, to effectively maintain and manage the items within the library.  Our students enjoy looking for their own materials using  student computers in the library.  Each computer has access to the patron catalog, internet, World Book Encyclopedia on-line, elibrary, elibrary for science, Sirs Knowledge Source, Sirs Discover, and Gale databases.

Library Holdings:

To meet the needs of the diverse student body,   Bassett High School library's holdings consist of more than 12,000 books, reference materials, videos, magazines and computer programs.
